fuck the womansplaining manshaming bullshit

I think I already ranted recently – HOW ON EARTH CAN ANY MAN DERAIL A CONVERSATION WITHOUT THE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN? if he’s just spamming loads of comments, then yeah, it’s spam, and delete them, and block him, like you would a spammy woman or a robot but in any other case HOW IS TAKING AWAY SOMEONE ELSES FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION A GOOD THING? HOW DARE YOU.
ignore them, RESPECT THEM, instead of abusing them or alienating them so obviously, that it’s going to inflame the whole situation and cause them to feel like they are being victimised by feminists and women in general.
because ya’ll acting like a bunch of scary bitches.
and you’re gross.

like with this gross fucking dumb insulting juvenile…. ughhh image.

Image

okay, statistic 1 – so 16% of sexual assault victims are men, and we’re vilifying them as whiners and disabling them from contributing to discussions on sexual assault because they don’t have a vagina? AND because their attackers are implied to be men instead of women WE’RE BLAMING THEM FOR THAT TOO?? as a whole gender, they’re responsible for their own sexual assault…. huh, doesn’t that sound familiar.

statistic 2 – one of the many battles that survivors fight is having the strength to report their sexual assault, and when this image is enforcing the fact that women “don’t” commit sexual assault and the patriarchy is supposedly force feeding everyone their gender roles, is it not just a bit likely that many more women assault people and it isn’t reported?
If you’re not going to let men talk about violence against women, don’t talk about violence against men, because your personal experiences aren’t relevant and your opinions aren’t valuable… according to your own logic. In fact men aren’t allowed to talk about violence against men because they’re the perpetrators and are going to derail the conversation.

statistic 3 – for the same jobs? like, really, for the same jobs? they’re not just picking jobs that pay less regardless of gender? if you’re going to pick a low paying job you’re going to have a low paying job regardless of whether you have a vagina or a penis, so unless that isn’t the point, word it better. especially since most people don’t believe you when you say shit like that.

I guess I should let the creators of the image defend themselves, this is in their image description (along with a bunch of links to men who are apparently stupid bastards for having opinions)

Dear Destroyers – We’ve said it before (and we’ll say it again) – there are many wonderful men in the world, and some of them are staunch Destroyers. However, we keep coming up against other men who, well, maybe aren’t so great. For example, “A Voice For Men” is a website which exists to (among other things): “Promote the dissemination of information that will expose misandry and gender-centrism on all levels in our culture”

Sounds the same as a feminist website, just replace ‘misandry’ with ‘mysogynism’.

Destroyers – we all know most men are appalled by violence against women. But why are (some) men unable to allow women to discuss this violence without trying to silence their voices? What can we do about this? And what do our male Destroyers think – why do some men behave this way, and can we (or you) do more to stop it?

Have you considered the difference between ‘trying to have a conversation’ and ‘silence their voices’…. oh, apparently only women are allowed to have conversations about violence against women. Never mind. Why should we do anything about other peoples behaviour? We don’t have license to control others. Why doesn’t someone stop you from leaving the kitchen?

I know I sound really mad and nuts and my arguments are probably weak as shit but these are my raw honest feelings AS A WOMAN, AS A PERSON when I see anything that shames other people.
And, honestly, seeing any one picked on probably makes me feel more aligned to their opinions than I actually am in the want to defend them – I probably agree more with feminists in general than meninists – … that’s kinda exactly my earlier point about images like this making the situation worse, you’re making people with different opinions excluded as your ally!
Is this small percentage of males rights activists (doesn’t sound so bad to me) really doing more damage to your cause than pointing them out, and also more damage than the small percentage of FEMALE rights activists that want to commit gendercide!? I don’t see anything about shaming them – because they have a vagina right? sisterhood, solidarity… never mind the human race over here, that you’re meant to be a part of.

UPDATE

I may have accidentally engaged my aunt who shared this image, and once again I’m not sure about how much she actually comprehends the whole feminist movement… or maybe it’s actually me who is batty.
One of her friends said they thought it was balanced and affirms men, and I said I found it shaming and alienating, even with the context of MRAs which the image alone doesn’t really present.

My more concise, less insane, analysis of the image which I am currently to terrified to post, is this…

Destroy The Joint talk about male rights activists (MRAs) and how they should be ‘stopped’ because talking about their perspective is somehow detracting from womens discussion.
But it’s not clearly stated, in the image itself, that the man on the right is an MRA who is derailing female discussion… not that I agree with that concept, and shaming anyone is a disgusting act sure to detract from feminism.
Anyway, the man on the right could be any man, they could be mocking any man – if they were standing up for men the 2nd and 3rd statistics would be irrelevant and it wouldn’t drag out ‘meeee’ like an infant.
If 84% of sexual assault victims are women, then 16% are men.
So, the male figure could be seen to be pointing that out as a plea to be heard.
But then the 2nd statistic – around 1% of attackers are female – invalidates their experience (which they probably never reported due to such attitudes) and blames men for their own sexual assault.
And the 3rd statistic… is just bullshit, and clearly is not supporting men in any way.
Therefore, in my opinion, it shames male rights activists and, because of the ambiguity, all men and alienates them regarding the feminist cause and women in general.

Phew, had no idea what to do with my commas in that last sentence.

I support your arguments fully, and it is quite refreshing to hear both sides of the argument without having to seem to be against one side of the argument.
I am 100% against rape so it makes me very happy to see that people are now concentrating on 100% of the problem, not 84%. (we are finally getting an A grade)
